Dr. Schickendantz, MD

Mark Schickendantz, M.D. is the Director of Sports Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Sports Health. Since 1992, he has been team physician for the MLB Cleveland Indians professional baseball team and was named Head Team Physician in 2003. Additionally, Dr. Schickendantz was Head Team Physician for the NFL Cleveland Browns from 2010-2103. He currently serves as Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee for Major League Baseball and is a member of the Major League Baseball Research Committee. Additionally, Dr. Schickendantz is Past President of the Major League Baseball Team Physicians Association. He is a Professor of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and serves as the Assistant Program Director for the Cleveland Clinic Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship. He has been recognized annually as one of Americas Best Doctors since 2011. Dr. Schickendantz specializes in the treatment of athletic shoulder and elbow injuries and has published and lectured extensively on the topic of ulnar collateral ligament injuries of the elbow.

Dr. Buchberger, MS, PT, DC, CSCS, DACBSP

Dr. Buchberger received his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from the National College of Chiropractic (NCC), a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy (summa cum laude) from SUNY Upstate Medical University and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is a former associate professor at New York Chiropractic College.

He is a Diplomate and three-time Past-President of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. Dr. Buchberger is a credentialed provider of Active Release Techniques (ART) and Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM). He lectures across the United States, Canada and Europe on topics including sports related shoulder and elbow injuries, rehabilitation techniques and repetitive strain disorders. In 2005 Dr. Buchberger was given the prestigious Dr. Jim Nichols DC award presented to the ìchiropractor for his extraordinary service and dedication to the field of weight training, health and fitness. The American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians named Dr. Buchberger “2009 Sports Chiropractor of the Year”.

Dr. Buchberger currently serves as the Chiropractic consultant for the Auburn Doubledays (Single-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals). He was a training camp consultant for the NY JETS football team from 2008 to 2014. He is the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator of the Auburn Stingrays swim program. Dr. Buchberger serves as the official Chiropractic consultant to the Syracuse University Athletic Department from 2006-2012, 2015 to present. Dr. Buchberger is the President and CEO of Active Physical Therapy Solutions PC. He was the Chiropractic consultant to the Canadian Aerial ski team for their 2001-2002 Olympic medal-winning season. Dr. Buchberger has published articles in the following peer reviewed journals JMPT, JSCR, MSSE, AJMS, and JCM.

Gary Calabrese, PT, DPT

 Gary is currently the Senior Director, Rehabilitation and Sports Therapy, Orthopedic and Rheumatologic Institute at the Cleveland Clinic.  Graduated from the University of Montana with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.  Earned his Physical Therapy undergraduate degree at Cleveland State University in 1986 and earned his BS from Mercyhurst College in 1979.  Gary has been the Senior Director at the Cleveland Clinic for 26 years and responsible for the expansion of rehabilitation services in Ohio and Florida.  He is actively involved in research and regularly presents lectures regionally, nationally, and internationally on orthopedic and sports rehabilitation topics with a specialty area in the overhead athlete, hip and knee pathology and the functional return of the athlete to sports.  Gary has published numerous articles on orthopedic and sports physical therapy related topics and has been featured on Good Morning America and in the The New York Times speaking to new trends in rehabilitation. Gary is a member of the Cavaliers Athletic Performance Team. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Sports Physical Therapy Section, the ICCUS Sports Medicine Society and a recipient of the APTA AASPT Service Award.
